Update July 6, 2005:
Permanent Columbine Memorial Info
I recently (week of July 3rd) received an update on plans to build a
permanent memorial to those lost at CHS.. following is an e-mail from
a visitor to this page: (Thanks Ruth for the update!)

As with any emails recieved this is Posted Un-edited:
(i don't believe in modifying other's statments!)
My name is Ruth Feldman. I live in Littleton and my two children were
students at Columbine on April 20th 1999. All of our lives were forever
changed on that day. I appreciate your website and I just wanted to let you
know about some new things going on concerning Columbine. A sign has been
placed at the base of rebel hill this week that reads "future site of the
columbine memorial" It displays a depiction of the memorial our community
hopes to begin building soon. Aprox $1.5 million is still needed to build
the memorial. Many fund raising events are happening in Littleton to help
make a goal of ground breaking for the memorial this fall. We are trying to
let people know we need 100,00 donations of $20.00 or less to complete this
project. Preprinted envelopes were donated to this effort and CHS students
are busy placing them in local businesses. A fundsraising account has been
opened up at an ebay store front called isoldit. People can simply drop off
anything that could be auctioned off on ebay and ask for the proceeds to be
given to the Columbine memorial fund. That store is at Ken Caryl and C470
ph:720-981-7350. A car wash with proceeds to go toward the memorial is
scheduled at the Dairy Queen at Pierce and Ken Caryl for July 9th.What we
lost that day was to precious to imagine failing to build a permanent
memorial. I recently read an editorial in our local paper suggesting a
permanent memorial should not be built and that the idea should be
abandoned. It said that it would not help anyone. I knew that meant I had to
stop being passive and get involved. This memorial will be part of the
healing process. Coping with grief is a long journey. I hope your website
can help inform others of this need and get them involved in the effort
before this project is either abandoned or drastically downsized. Thanks For
any help you can offer. I hope you will visit this memorial when it is
finally built.                                 Ruth

I stopped by Clement Park where the memorial is to be built..
